On my other blog I list all the people in my life who support me on an ongoing basis. The other day I realized my poet friends do the very same thing in a complete and uniquely different way, they make my poetry stronger and support my creative work, so they deserve their very own peeps page. Lets meet my poetry peeps:
Mayank Agarwal Mayank is one of those people who gets top billing, he is one of my best friends after all! Mayank hails from India and has the most incredibly sensual poetry! The fact that it reveals the secret side of him I know is in there is just a bonus. A man of few words is Mayank, so when he chooses to speak you darn well better listen, it’s generally something very insightful and incredibly supporting. Huggles Moon-man. Did I mention his poetry is so sensual it sets fire to pages? Yeah, you might want to check out his work!
Paul Squires Paul has so much talent I think it may actually be coming out his ears! His writing is also very poetic. Paul is a romantic who likes to pretend he is incredibly cynical, he ruins it by being so very funny and brave with his work. He is very free with his thoughts on each piece and I always know that when I get a comment on a poem that it was a good one, since Paul only comments on the ones he truly likes.
Amanda Watson Amanda has a poetry completely different than my own. The flavor is strong and extremely powerful. I love that she pulls so much from her life and shares it in her work. When I go to read her poetry I take some coffee, cause I will be there a long time. I never know just what to expect from her next poem and I like that about it very much.
Ozzie Mandiaz What can I say about this poet? He has a way of making me blush, groan, and hide my face in dizzy shock. His poetry has a touch of grit and a deep soulful searching thread that binds it all together. When I read Ozzie’s poetry I know that whatever he writes will make me stop and contemplate, since that is what he does so completely well in his work.
Todd Ehlers Todd tends to make quiet observations, he also makes very good suggestions and his poetry always has a way of cracking a smile of delight. What is it about his style that is so refreshing? He just enjoys his world and translates it into his work. When I read his work I can clearly see who it is that resides behind his smile, besides how can one not love a man who writes of an old gray cat with such obvious devotion?
Tom Honrando or,Machfive, as he is called. Writes with an enjoyment of certain words. We share this love of playing with the sound and play of words, not only how they are on the tongue, but on the ear. I often visit Tom’s blog when I have an idea in my head and want some interesting word interaction inspiration. He makes words play and I love that aspect of his work. I will let his work speak for itself, check it out and see if you do not agree that Tom’s greatest poetry strength is in his interaction with the words he uses.
Lissa Lissa, Lissa, Lissa! I cannot help but smile and say her name over and over, she is one of my absolute favorites and she doesn’t even know it. Her work speaks with such depth and perception It is almost physically painful, but in a good way. She shares the whole of herself in her writing and the depth of her soul in her poetry. When someone is completely sincere it has a texture you can feel, Lissa has the texture of a soft leaf and I think she is one of the best things out there, if you don’t read her blog, you should!
Why Paisley This woman has talent! She has an edge that dares you to see her thoughts, both cleansing and in your face. Her work is an evolving. living, breathing thing and every time I read it I can see a new person emerging. I love that she is able, in a way I cannot seem to, to add photos that depict exactly the emotions she is wishing to convey. She handles her imagery like a warrior and I am often greatly humbled when I see something new and brave in her work.
Matt Clendon Matt’s work speaks with a thoughtful frown and happy chuckle. His work, both poetry and literature, has a feeling of intellectual thinking, there is someone alive in there! I enjoy the way he can write a serious poem, but also inject enough humor and honesty to make it a piece to remember. He says most of his poetry was written a while ago, I am wondering how his poetry has evolved over time for him. I always look forward to seeing what he posts next. The current one with men playing cards is quite lovely!
Gentle Dove Gentle is most certainly the right word! Gentle Dove has a way of making every poem she writes one that inspires, lifts, completes! She is wonderfully descriptive and has a way of making even sad poetry hopeful. I love reading her work when I am low, there is no way I am staying that way when I read poems about hope, love and flying a kite! Gentle Dove writes what she feels and reading her work, you know that this is a person who is optimistic and engaging, and you cannot help but respond to such uplifting work!
Anna McCarty Anna is a kinetic poet! Her work is incredibly romantic and has active movement in her depictions! When you read her work you can feel the people, emotions, and thoughts, they do not sit still these thoughts! They dip and circle and make merry with your head. Simply irresistible action written with a romantic touch of sweetness and whimsy that makes me a firm fan of her blog and her work.
Scot Young Scot’s work is different than many of my favorite poets, his work is “in your face” and makes no apologies for it. This makes his work unique and completely wonderful in every way! When I read Scots poetry I am often caught up in the descriptions he gives. He has a down-home-feel that makes me recall my life in Ohio growing up. Don’t let the word “Down home” confuse you, this is a poet who has a way of speaking with complete openness that I couple with memory of my country kin and he does it with strict honesty and deep commitment to his truths. His poetry is completely different in flavor from my own, which is why I like it so very much!
