Floating Cork

I can be a friend now.
Past that immature stage
of thinking love is the answer
to every single problem.
Past that egotism
that makes me less wise
instead of more so.

I struggled in that 08.
Definitely walked into the dark
and stubbed many toes
certain I was right,
unaware of my shortcomings.
Lessons, it’s always lessons with me.

Friendship rarely drops in
when you are complete.
It comes when a mess is present
when a disaster needs cleaning.
Confrontation leads to touch-points.
We draw what is needed, to bleed
appropriately.

I can be a friend now.
Though you are gone away
lost to some new day.
Life knows so much more
than it is use to sharing.
